The Christmas almond brittle is a sweet treat made with only three ingredients: toasted almonds, sugar, and candied fruits. Those who read the title of this dessert are surely wondering what the “Christmas” means: I named it this way because almond brittle is a typical Christmas dessert, and also because of the color given by the candied fruits. This Christmas almond brittle is perfect to enjoy during the holidays, to offer to friends and family, and it’s an original idea to place in the Christmas stocking (wrapped in aluminum foil and closed like a candy).

- Cooking methods: Stovetop
Ingredients
- 7.1 oz Blanched almonds
- 8.8 oz Granulated sugar
- 1 package Candied fruits
Preparation
To make the Christmas almond brittle, place the blanched almonds on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Toast the almonds in a preheated oven at 356°F for 5 minutes, until golden.
Pour the sugar into a pot and melt over low heat. When the sugar has reached an amber color, add the almonds and candied fruits to the pot.
With the help of a spoon, stir to mix everything well, using a bottom-to-top motion. Every part of the almond and candied fruit should be coated in the caramel.
Place the mixture on a work surface previously greased with vegetable oil, leveling the surface well.
Allow to cool for a few minutes, and before the brittle fully hardens, use a sharp knife to cut it into bars of the desired size. Enjoy!
Note: The brittle (once cooled) can be stored wrapped in aluminum foil and placed inside a tin box or a jar with a lid, in a cool, dry place.
