Cocoa and Dried Fruit Granola

The cocoa and dried fruit granola is a delicious and crunchy idea for breakfast or a mid-day snack. I made the cocoa granola with puffed spelt and enriched it with hazelnuts, almonds, and chocolate chips. You can enjoy cocoa granola with milk or yogurt.

Cocoa and Nut Granola
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Cheap
  • Preparation time: 5 Minutes
  • Portions: 1 Piece
  • Cooking methods: Oven

Ingredients

  • 6 cups puffed spelt
  • 1.06 oz almonds
  • 1.06 oz hazelnuts
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsps water
  • ½ tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1.41 oz dark chocolate chips

Tools

  • Jar

Steps

  • To make the cocoa granola, pour the puffed spelt into a large bowl, add the almonds (you can use almonds with or without skin) and coarsely chopped hazelnuts.

  • In a saucepan, pour the water, oil, and add the honey. Put it over low heat and let the honey melt, but do not let the mixture boil.

  • Pour the water and honey mixture over the cereals in the bowl. Also add the cocoa and stir with a spoon to combine the ingredients until you get a moist and homogeneous mixture.

  • Spread everything on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Level well with a spoon and place in a ventilated oven at 300°F for 30 minutes. Stir with a spoon every 10 minutes to get an evenly crunchy granola that is not soft underneath.

  • When the granola is ready, remove it from the oven, add the chocolate, and let it cool.

  • Stir with a spoon and pour the granola into an airtight glass jar (200 ml) and enjoy when needed. Enjoy!
