Cocoa Water Pudding

The Cocoa Water Pudding is a light spoon dessert, made without milk, without eggs and gluten-free.

To make this pudding you need a few simple ingredients that are normally found in the kitchen pantry. You can flavor this pudding with spices; I, for example, used cinnamon. Grated orange zest is also very suitable and, strictly for adults, an anise or amaretto liqueur.

The only drawback of this pudding is that you’ll have to wait a few hours before enjoying it, but you’ll end up with an irresistible dessert!

  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 2People
  • Cooking methods: Stovetop

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 1/2 tbsps Sugar
  • 4 tbsps Unsweetened cocoa powder (or chocolate)
  • 3 tbsps Cornstarch (maizena)
  • to taste Ground cinnamon (or orange zest or liqueur)
  • to taste Lactose-free plant cream (chopped nuts)

Preparation

  • To make the Cocoa Water Pudding, pour the water and the sugar into a small saucepan. Place over low heat and dissolve the sugar.

  • Then add the unsweetened cocoa, stirring to avoid lumps.

  • When the cocoa is dissolved, incorporate the cornstarch and the ground cinnamon (or whatever you have chosen to flavor your pudding).

  • Bring to a boil and stir until you obtain a creamy, thick mixture. Remove the saucepan from the heat.

  • Wet the inside of the glasses (or cups or molds) with water; or with the liqueur, if this was used to flavor the pudding.

  • Pour the water pudding into the two glasses and place them in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours, better if overnight.

  • Serve the puddings with whipped cream or chopped nuts. Enjoy!
