Hot Dog with Sauerkraut is a rich and tasty sandwich, ideal to enjoy with family or friends. I have been making this sandwich for a while, thanks to my brother’s culinary tastes (a cooking enthusiast and artist; if you also love art, I recommend following his blog Studio8), who sometimes jokingly accuses me of copying his recipes. To my defense, I can say that I get inspired by what he cooks and then remake it to my liking and offer it to my boyfriend. This sandwich is filled with sausage, sauerkraut, and cheese. With a few ingredients and little time, you’ll serve a delicious hot dog at the table that you can pair with cold beer and chips.
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Economical
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Portions: 2People
- Cooking methods: Stove, Grill
Ingredients
- 2 Hot Dog Buns
- 2 Sausages
- 5.3 oz Sauerkraut
- 1 oz Cheese
- sauces (to taste)
Preparation
To make the hot dog with sauerkraut, cook the sausages on the grill or griddle, making sure they cook on all sides. With a knife, cut the center of the sausage lengthwise, and let them cook inside as well.
Cut the buns in half and toast them on the griddle on both sides. Heat the sauerkraut either directly on the griddle or in a pot with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.
Dress the buns with sauces to taste, fill with the sausages, place the sauerkraut in the center of the sausages, and finish with a sprinkle of cheese on top of the sauerkraut.
Close the sandwich and serve. Enjoy your meal!
