Pizza with potato chips

The pizza with potato chips is a tasty leavened bread baked in the oven, with a simple yet striking flavor. I made a white-base pizza, then topped it with thinly sliced potatoes and seasoned with pecorino and oregano. Once out of the oven you’ll have a pizza with an irresistible aroma and crunchy, tasty potato chips. This pizza will be loved by both adults and kids!

Pizza with potato chips

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups 00 flour (or all-purpose flour) (or type 0)
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp fresh yeast
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 2 medium potatoes
  • to taste grated pecorino cheese
  • to taste extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste dried oregano

Preparation

  • To make the pizza with potato chips, crumble the fresh yeast into a small bowl and add the water at room temperature. Stir until the yeast is completely dissolved.

  • In a large bowl, or in a stand mixer, pour the flour and add the yeast-and-water mixture. Start kneading.

  • Also add the salt and the extra virgin olive oil; knead until the dough takes shape: it should become a compact, soft mass that does not stick to your hands or the bowl.

  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise for four hours, until it has doubled in volume.

  • After the rising time, take the dough and put it into a greased rectangular baking pan. Spread the dough inside the pan using your hands.

  • Let it rise for another 3–4 hours, away from drafts, preferably inside the turned-off oven.

  • Peel the potatoes and slice them very thinly.

  • After the second rise, season the pizza with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. Then arrange the potatoes over the pizza and drizzle them with a little oil.

  • Add a sprinkle of oregano and grated pecorino cheese.

  • Bake the pizza in a preheated oven at 428°F for 15 minutes, or until the desired doneness. Enjoy your meal!
