Pizza with Potatoes and Sausage

The pizza with potatoes and sausage is a tasty idea to enjoy homemade pizza. Every time I make pizza, I enjoy creating different toppings, and this pizza with potatoes and sausage has become one of my favorites. For this recipe, I topped the pizza with mozzarella, baked potatoes, and sausage: the baked potatoes will be golden, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside, making the pizza very appetizing!

Pizza with Potatoes and Sausage
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Rest time: 8 Hours
  • Preparation time: 20 Minutes
  • Portions: 3
  • Cooking methods: Oven

Ingredients

  • 10.5 oz all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 0.1 oz fresh yeast
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 0.14 oz salt
  • 7 oz mozzarella
  • 3.5 oz sausage
  • 3.5 oz potatoes
  • to taste extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 sprig rosemary

Steps

  • To make the pizza with potatoes and sausage, crumble the fresh yeast into a small bowl and add water at room temperature. Stir until the yeast is completely dissolved.

  • In a large bowl, or in a stand mixer, pour the flour and add the yeast and water mixture. Start kneading.

  • Also add the salt and extra virgin olive oil; knead until the mixture takes shape: it should be a compact and soft dough that doesn’t stick to your hands or the bowl.

  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise for four hours until it doubles in volume.

  • After the rising time, take the dough and divide it into three equal parts. Form loaves and place them on the oven tray lined with parchment paper and lightly oiled. Or roll them out on round baking pans to make round pizzas.

  • Spread the pizzas with your hands and let them rise for another 3/4 hours, away from drafts, preferably in the turned-off oven.

  • Peel the potatoes, cut them into wedges, and blanch them for 5 minutes in plenty of water. Drain and season with a drizzle of oil and rosemary.

  • Transfer the potatoes either to a baking tray or to the basket of an air fryer. Bake in the convection oven at 428°F for 30 minutes, or in the air fryer at 392°F for 20 minutes. They should be cooked but not golden, as they will brown on the pizza.

  • Bake the pizzas in the preheated oven at 428°F for 10 minutes. Remove the pizzas from the oven, add the mozzarella, potatoes, and crumbled sausage. Return the pizzas to the oven for 5 minutes, or until desired doneness.

  • Serve the pizzas and enjoy your meal!
