Air fryer apple chips are the perfect snack, made with just one ingredient, the apple, and they are truly a delicacy!
These apple chips are as crunchy as potato chips but naturally sweet, light, and healthy. In just a few minutes, they transform into a perfect snack, with no added sugars or fats.
I discovered them by chance one evening while watching TV, craving something tasty yet light to munch on, and I spotted 2 apples, and it clicked, as it always does for me.
So I decided to experiment with the air fryer… and since then, I can’t do without them!
Compared to traditional oven-baked apple chips, the air fryer version is much quicker and retains the fruity flavor better. And if, like me, you love dried apples, you’ll love this apple recipe: they become golden, thin, and fragrant.
You can take them anywhere, and they never get boring.
In short, once you try these air fryer apple chips, you’ll say goodbye to packaged snacks. Just one warning: they’re addictive

Ingredients for Air Fryer Apple Chips
Recipe for Apple Chips
- 2 Fuji apples
- 1 lemon
Tools
- 1 Mandoline
- 1 Air Fryer
- 1 Bowl
- 1 Jar
- 1 Rack
Steps for Air Fryer Apple Chips
To prepare air fryer apple chips, wash the apples thoroughly under running water.
Leave the skin on, as it provides fiber and color to the chips.
Slice the apples evenly using a mandoline, about two millimeters thick.
There’s no need to remove the core, the mandoline eliminates the seeds while slicing. Fill a bowl with cold water and add the juice of one lemon. Soak the slices for 5–10 minutes, then drain and dry them well by patting with paper towels or a cloth. This helps with color and keeps the bright appearance.
Preheat the air fryer for two to three minutes at 284°F.
Place the slices in the basket without overlapping them too much and cook at 284°F for 35-40 minutes, turning them often. The chips harden as they cool: remove them once they reach the desired golden appearance.
If you notice they burn easily, reduce to 266°F and increase the time.
Cool them completely on a rack or on absorbent paper.
Tips and Storage
To give the apple chips a sweeter and more aromatic flavor, you can add cinnamon or sprinkle with brown sugar before baking.
For a glazed effect, you can brush them with maple syrup or honey once cooked.
The apple chips, once ready and completely cooled, must be stored carefully to maintain their crunchiness and prevent moisture absorption.
Being free from preservatives, how you store them makes all the difference between a perfect snack and soggy slices after a few hours.
Store them in an airtight glass container or a metal container
Avoid cheap plastic containers: they do not seal well and let in moisture
Store in a cool, dry place for 3-4 days. There’s no need for the fridge, as internal moisture would make them soggy.
You can freeze for up to 2 months in freezer bags, although they will remain slightly chewy
