Apple Pouches

The apple pouches are incredibly delicious and tasty sweets. If you have little time, and want to make the most of it with excellent results, this recipe is for you.

Apples are certainly the most suitable fruit for creating desserts thanks to their sweetness and enveloping flavor. And with a puff pastry at hand, it’s quickly done.

Perfect for breakfast, a snack, after a meal, or to present as dessert at a friend’s house… every occasion is a good one!

If you also love this fruit, then I recommend trying my delicious apple tart, enriched with a succulent apple and cinnamon puree, or my apple cake, a puff pastry created from almost a kilo of apples and very little flour, in fact, the puff pastry is made up of the very thin slices of apples. I want to point out that these are all easy and fairly quick recipes.

Now let’s see the steps together.

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Rest time: 15 Minutes
  • Preparation time: 20 Minutes
  • Portions: 6
  • Cooking methods: Electric oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 1 rectangular puff pastry
  • 1 apple
  • 6 teaspoons peach jam
  • 6 walnuts
  • to taste ground cinnamon
  • to taste granulated sugar

Tools

  • Rolling Boards
  • Choppers
  • 1 Baking Pan
  • Parchment Paper

Steps to create apple pouches

To create apple puffs, first take a rectangular puff pastry. Then place it on a rolling board and cut it into 6 equal squares with a serrated wheel.

Meanwhile, peel the apple and cut it into small cubes. Then, coarsely chop the walnuts.

Next, add to each pastry, firstly a teaspoon of jam, I used peach, but you can use any you like, secondly a tablespoon of chopped apples dusted with cinnamon, and finally, a bit of chopped walnuts.

After completing the steps, we can close the pastry squares. Join the opposite sides (see photo) and press the joints at the base well.

Preheat the electric oven to 356°F. Line a baking pan with parchment paper and place our puffs.

Bake for about 25 minutes until lightly golden. Or in the air fryer at 392°F for 8-10 minutes. Once cooked, let them cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar and… enjoy!

Storage and notes

The apple pouches can be stored for up to two days and are always preferable to be consumed warm.
