  • 1.1 lbs asparagus
  • 5 slices stringy cheese
  • 1 oz grated Parmesan

Steps for preparing baked asparagus

To prepare the delicious baked asparagus, start by washing them thoroughly under running water.

Then remove the toughest part of the stem, keeping only the tender part.

Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and blanch the asparagus for about 5 minutes.

Drain them immediately and pass them under cold water or in a bowl with ice to stop the cooking and keep the bright green color

  • Oil a baking dish 8×6 and arrange the asparagus side by side, covering the entire surface.

    Stuff in the center with three slices of stringy cheese, then cover with another layer of asparagus and stuff again with 2 slices of stringy cheese and the grated Parmesan.

    Bake in the center of the oven for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is completely melted and slightly golden on the surface.

    For a perfect gratin, activate the grill for the last 3-5 minutes of cooking, keeping an eye on it to avoid burning.

    In an air fryer, cook at 375°F for 8-10 minutes. You can increase to 400°F in the last 2 minutes for a crunchier gratin.

    After cooking, serve hot to enjoy the stringy cheese effect.

Use fresh and seasonal asparagus.

Store them in an airtight container in the fridge for two days. Before serving, reheat for a few minutes in the oven or air fryer at 350°F

I do not recommend freezing as the cheese may lose its texture.
