Bread Roll-Ups, a Chic Appetizer Without Turning On the Stove

The bread roll-ups seem like small, shy rolls, but upon closer inspection, you realize they are just being sophisticated: the rolled bread wraps cheese and salmon like a soft scarf around two friends who have no intention of parting.

The result? Fresh, elegant roll-ups with that crunchy touch of black sesame seeds that make them resemble sushi on holiday in Europe.

Perfect to present as appetizers at parties or buffets, or as a slightly chic appetizer without turning on the stove.

You can customize them: change the type of cheese, add herbs or spices, maybe a drizzle of lemon or chives.

Each roll-up is already a single serving, easy to pick up and eat. No need for a plate or knife: grab and go, ideal for parties, appetizers, or picnics.

Ingredients for Bread Roll-Ups

  • 3 slices bread
  • 3.5 oz smoked salmon
  • 3 tbsps robiola cheese
  • to taste black sesame seeds
  • 1 knob butter

Tools

  • 1 Cutting Board
  • 1 Rolling Pin
  • 1 Plate
  • 1 Plastic Wrap
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 Brush

Steps for Bread Roll-Ups

To prepare the delicious bread roll-ups, choose crustless white bread.

  • Place the slices of bread on a cutting board. With a rolling pin flatten them slightly. This will make rolling them easier.

  • Fill each one with a generous spoonful of robiola cheese and spread it evenly over the entire surface with a spatula

  • Place the smoked salmon on top of the cheese, covering the entire slice.

  • Gently roll it up into a cylinder and wrap it with plastic wrap. Secure it well and place it in the fridge for about an hour. This step will make cutting easier. Divide each cylinder into three equal parts.

  • Melt the butter in a double boiler and brush the surface of the rolls with a brush. The butter will act as a glue for the sesame seeds. Then coat each roll-up with the sesame seeds.

  • Arrange on a plate and serve. Enjoy from Barbara!

Storage

Store the bread roll-ups with salmon and cheese in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.

Freezing is not recommended as both the cheese and salmon lose texture.
