Pinwheel pizzas are an easy, quick, and delightful idea. You don’t have to get your hands in the dough, and they save you at the last minute if you’re craving something tasty or have unexpected friends over for an aperitif or snack.
All you need is a few slices of sandwich bread, tomato sauce, and mozzarella, a few minutes in the oven, or an air fryer, and the pinwheel pizzas are ready, crispy and cheesy, to be enjoyed.
The sandwich bread pinwheel recipe is a bit intuitive; you can play with alternative fillings: grilled vegetables, cold cuts, flavorful cheeses, olives, or aromatic herbs. Each variant gives a different character.
I had fun preparing them in two colors. Two with natural edges and two topped with tomato sauce.
