Whole wheat penne with sausage and pistachio is an inviting first course that I discovered by chance 🙂
Yes, this morning I didn’t know what to cook as a first course.
I wanted to prepare a pasta dish different from the usual.
I opened the kitchen cupboard and found a package of pistachios and thought: “I’ll add them to the pasta” but I still wanted to add something else to make the first course richer.
I opened the fridge and found some sausage I bought yesterday that I wanted to cook in the oven with potatoes, but eventually decided to use it in the pasta 🙂
That’s how this first course was born: very good because it’s tasty and flavorful.
It’s definitely worth making again whenever you want: to be served at any time of the year, even for important occasions 😉
I used whole wheat penne, but you can use any type of pasta you have available.
Whole wheat penne with sausage and pistachio is a dish suitable for everyone, and if you make generous portions, it can become a single dish.
I used unsalted pistachios because I prefer them, but if you can’t find them, feel free to use salted ones and decrease the amount of salt or omit it.

Remove the casing from the sausage and cut it into pieces.
In a pan, brown the sausage pieces with a tablespoon of olive oil.
