Fagiolini ‘mbuttunati typical Sicilian green beans. Today I want to suggest a typical Sicilian summer side dish.
In the warm season, we can easily find both green beans and cherry tomatoes.
We will pair them with the prince of our cuisine: Sicilian-seasoned breadcrumbs, which many have used to stretch and flavor dishes.
This is a side dish that goes well with both fish and meat. It tastes better at room temperature, so it’s convenient to prepare in advance. The star of this recipe is the Sicilian-seasoned breadcrumbs. Traditional recipe and Thermomix (Bimby).
Here attached you’ll find a link that explains how to make it.

Preparation of Fagiolini ‘mbuttunati typical Sicilian green beans
Start by trimming the green beans; check if they have a string — if they do, be sure to remove it. Rinse them several times under running water.
Place a fairly large pot on the heat with water and salt as if you were cooking pasta.
Bring to a boil, and only then add the green beans. Cover and let cook for about 10 minutes.
However, this depends on the beans and their seasonality, so check them and extend the cooking time if necessary.
If you’re using frozen green beans, add them to the boiling water frozen and shorten the cooking time.
In any case, when they’re cooked, drain them and cool them under plenty of cold water to stop the cooking.
While the beans cool, wash the cherry tomatoes, and…
cut them into pieces.
In the same pot or in a pan, pour in the allotted oil, peel the garlic and slice it so it’ll be easier to spot and remove later; sauté for 1 minute.
As soon as you smell the garlic, add the chopped tomatoes; you’ll hear them sizzle. Stir for 1 minute, and…
Season with salt. Then…
add the green beans.
Mix well and cook for only 2 minutes.
Then turn off the heat and…
With the heat off, sprinkle the Sicilian-seasoned breadcrumbs, mix, let cool and…
Serve garnished with plenty of basil.
