  • 3.53 oz Pearled barley
  • 2 slices Cooked ham
  • 0.71 oz Parmigiano Reggiano DOP (grated)
  • 4.23 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp broth cube (Homemade vegetable)
  • Black pepper (ground, optional)

Preparation of Pearled Barley with Peas and Ham

  • If you have fresh peas, shell them

  • Weigh 100 g, already shelled, or use frozen ones.

  • Peel and then chop the onion, put it in a pot with the extra virgin olive oil, and sauté for 2 minutes.

  • Then add the peas, and double their weight with water.

  • Add the vegetable broth cube, if using a store-bought one, add half a cube. Cover and cook for 10 minutes, meanwhile….
