- 1 Pan
Steps
To make
First, very gently wash the flowers, remove the pistil and the outer sepals, ensure there are no insects inside, then let them drain.
Chop the cheeses and season the mixture with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Beat the eggs in the first bowl, place the flour in the second bowl, and in the third bowl prepare the Sicilian seasoned breadcrumbs following the recipe by clicking here.
Gently open the flowers and place a little bit of the cheese mixture inside, then close the petals by gently rolling them together.
First coat the filled zucchini flowers in flour,
then in the beaten eggs,
and finally in the Sicilian seasoned breadcrumbs ensuring it adheres well all around
Now you need to decide how to cook them:
Arrange the flowers on a baking tray with parchment paper underneath, spray a few drops of oil and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F fan-forced for about 5 minutes.
Place the flowers in the basket or tray of your air fryer with a spray of oil on top, and cook for 8 minutes at 400°F
Heat plenty of peanut oil in a pan and once hot, add the flowers and fry them 2 minutes per side, then absorb the excess oil on paper towels and serve hot.
