A delicious and nutritious main course, easy to make, you can prepare it with any fish steak, such as: tuna, greater amberjack, and even frozen fish fillets.

We will prepare cutlets that we will then place on the baking sheet and cover with tomato sauce and mozzarella. Everything will be cooked in the oven or air fryer in a short time.

  • 4 steaks swordfish (or other fish steaks or fillets)
  • 1.75 cups breadcrumb (seasoned Sicilian style see recipe)
  • 1 egg
  • 1.25 cups tomato sauce
  • 3/4 cup mozzarella
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • to taste dried oregano
  • to taste basil

Steps

Let’s go to the kitchen

  • In a bowl, place the tomato sauce and season it with salt, pepper, 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, basil, and oregano to taste.

  • Beat the egg in a plate or bowl.

  • Remove the skin from the steaks and, if present, the bone. Now that the bases are ready, proceed to bread the fish steaks

  • Dip each slice first in the egg and then in the Sicilian-style seasoned breadcrumbs,

  • pressing well.

  • Now, take a baking dish or sheet, and place a few tablespoons of the seasoned tomato sauce on the bottom, then lay the slices on top of the sauce and pour the remaining tomato sauce over each slice, then sprinkle the shredded mozzarella on top

  • For oven cooking: if using the microwave, cook with the crisp function for 15 minutes. If using a classic oven, preheat to 356°F (180°C) static, and once it reaches temperature, place in the oven and cook for 15 minutes.

  • For air fryer cooking

    Place the fish directly in the basket with the slices seasoned as explained above. Preheat the fryer and then cook for 10 minutes at 374°F (190°C)
