Ingredients
Let’s go shopping
- 2 cups tomatoes
- 4 cups Iceberg lettuce
- 1 medium Tropea red onion
- 2 tbsp capers in salt (previously desalted)
- 14 oz mozzarella
- to taste basil
- to taste dried oregano
- to taste salt
- 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Tools
- Cutting board
- Knife
- 2 Small bowls
- 1 Salad bowl
- Salad spinner for salad
- 2 Colanders
Preparation: The Summer Dinner-Saving Salad
Wash all the vegetables and let them dry well,
Slice the onion and place it in a small bowl filled with water.
Rinse the capers under running water, then place them in a small bowl filled with water, and drain them at the last moment
Cut the tomatoes and season them separately with just a little salt and oregano.
Cut the lettuce into julienne strips, spin it in the appropriate tool so it doesn’t contain water, but do not season it.
Cut the mozzarella into pieces of your preferred size and let it drain in a colander.
Now place the lettuce at the base of the plate or salad bowl first, then the previously seasoned tomatoes, then the onion and the drained capers, mozzarella, and basil.
Finish with basil, olive oil, and if you like, more oregano.
Here’s the ready Summer Dinner-Saving Salad.
Storage and Tips
The summer dinner-saving salad. If you want to prepare it in advance, I recommend cutting all the ingredients but not mixing them together, and season them only at the end.
