TRADITIONAL EASTER BUNDT CAKE RECIPE: SOFT, RUSTIC, AND WHOLESOME

Traditional Easter bundt cake recipe: soft, rustic, and wholesome, perfect for Easter breakfast just like the chocolate and candied fruit Easter cake or to dip in milk like we did as kids.

Like all traditional Easter recipes, there are various versions whose flavors and aromas take you back in time, bringing back many memories like the scent of vanilla in the air and grandma with her large bowl where she mixed eggs, sugar, and flour to make her fabulous classic bundt cake.

Every year during the Easter period, I prepare various traditional desserts like the Colomba cake, the quick Easter cake, the Pastiera, and the indispensable shortcrust pastries, all Easter desserts made with genuine ingredients but modified according to our tastes.

However, grandma’s Easter cake has remained just as she made it with a few wholesome ingredients: the classic bundt cake of yesteryear. The only addition is the glaze with sprinkles. Surely you’ll have everything you need at home to make this delight. I recommend trying it; I’m sure its simplicity will win you over from the first bite.

HOW TO PREPARE THE EASTER BUNDT CAKE

  • To make this fabulous cake, you can either use electric whisks or do everything by hand like it used to be. In a bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar very well until they are nicely fluffy, add the oil slowly while mixing, and the flavoring. Pour the baking powder into the milk, and when bubbles start to form, mix quickly to create a big foam, then pour everything into the bowl and mix quickly. Finally, add the sifted flour with salt. Pour everything into a greased and floured bundt cake mold about 10 inches in diameter and bake at 350°F for about 35 minutes, but always adjust to your oven and do the toothpick test. Remove from oven and let cool. Meanwhile, prepare the glaze. In a bowl, pour some powdered sugar and start adding a little water at a time until you achieve a fairly thick consistency, pour everything over the bundt cake, cover with sprinkles and dust with powdered sugar.

ADVICE: IF YOU WANT A LACTOSE-FREE VERSION, YOU CAN SUBSTITUTE THE MILK WITH A PLANT-BASED BEVERAGE. IF YOU WANT A MORE INDULGENT VERSION, YOU CAN ADD CHOCOLATE CHIPS
