  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Cheap
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients for Duchess Potato Trees

  • 10.5 oz Potatoes (raw weight)
  • 1 oz grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 oz melted Butter
  • 1 pinch fine salt
  • to taste nutmeg
  • to taste ground black pepper
  • to taste emmentaler (Or provolone)
  • to taste chives (Or dried parsley)

Tools

  • 1 Piping bag
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Hand whisk
  • 1 Star nozzle
  • 1 Potato masher

Steps for Duchess Potato Trees

  • To make these delicious duchess potato trees, first you need to cook the potatoes until boiled. Put a pot full of water on the stove and place the potatoes, boil them for 45 minutes or until they are ready, you will see that they crumble with a fork. Mash the potatoes while still hot and put them in a bowl. Add the melted butter, salt, pepper, and nutmeg, and mix carefully with a whisk. Add the grated Parmesan cheese, the egg yolk, and mix again.

  • Place the mixture in a piping bag with a star nozzle. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and press the mixture onto the base of the tray and rise gradually, letting the potato mixture out. This way we will create small trees. Bake in a pre-heated static oven at 392°F for about 20 minutes or until golden. Remove from the oven and let cool.

  • Decorate the trees with chives and emmentaler stars placed on top with the help of a toothpick to hold them in place. And here they are, the duchess potato trees. I hope you like this latest recipe of mine, see you next time friends.

STORAGE, TIPS, AND NOTES

The duchess potato trees can be stored in the fridge for a couple of days, though they will lose their initial texture. I recommend making them fresh and enjoying them the same day.
