  • 1 3/4 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 lemon peel
  • 1/2 cup liquid cream
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch

Steps

  • In a saucepan, put the milk, sugar, lemon peel (or vanilla), cream, and cornstarch.

  • Turn on low heat and start stirring with a whisk until the cream thickens, it will take about 20 minutes. Remove the lemon peel before the cream thickens. After about 20 minutes the cream is ready, lift the whisk with a bit of cream, if it stops on the surface you can turn off the heat. Pour the cream into a container, cover with cling film in contact, and let it cool.

Storage

You can store the cream in the fridge covered with cling film for up to 2 days.

Variation

If you prefer, you can replace the lemon peel with vanilla, orange, or other flavors you like, or you can omit them altogether.
