- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Very cheap
- Preparation time: 1 Minute
- Portions: 8.8 oz
- Cooking methods: No cooking
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 1 cup peanut oil
- 1 egg at room temperature
- salt
- 1.3 tbsp lemon juice
Tools
- Immersion Blender
Procedure
In a tall and narrow container, add the egg, oil, lemon, and salt in the order listed above.
Insert the immersion blender and keep it attached to the base until it starts to thicken.
When you see it starts to become more compact, move the blender from bottom to top to incorporate all the oil.
You’ll know the mayonnaise is ready by its lighter color and the resistance it shows when you move the blender. At that point, stop.
The mayonnaise is ready!
Storage
You can store the mayonnaise in the fridge covered with plastic wrap for 3 days.
Tip
The ingredients should all be at room temperature. The oil is preferably sunflower or peanut oil instead of olive oil, to avoid an overly intense flavor that could overpower the delicate taste of the mayonnaise.
