Don’t have time to make homemade puff pastry croissants? Let’s make it a bit easier with ready-made puff pastry mini croissants in the air fryer, and in 25 minutes, we’ll satisfy our craving…. In this recipe, I’ve thought of significantly shortening the time to make classic croissants, especially during the summer when working with puff pastry becomes very complicated. At the same time, cooking them in an air fryer avoids turning on the oven. They won’t be exactly the same, but I believe they certainly won’t be left on the plate. These mini croissants have been prepared with double puff pastry to make them more substantial. I chose to fill them with custard, but they’re also super delicious with jams or Nutella. All that’s left is to try them!!!
- Difficulty: Very Easy
- Cost: Very Cheap
- Rest time: 30 Minutes
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Portions: 9 Pieces
- Cooking methods: Air Frying
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 2 rolls puff pastry
- apricot jam to taste
- brown sugar to taste
- custard
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tablespoons milk
Tools
- Parchment Paper
- Air Fryer
Steps
If you choose to fill them with custard, you need to prepare it beforehand so it cools down properly.
Take the first puff pastry sheet, open it, and spread your favorite jam on top, pairing it with what you will use to fill the croissants. In my case, I chose apricot jam, then sprinkle with brown sugar.
Take the other puff pastry sheet, open it, and place it on top, covering the sheet with jam.
Cover with a sheet of parchment paper and let rest in the fridge for 30 minutes.
After the time has passed, take the sheets out of the fridge and cut triangles with a base of 2.75 inches, then decide the size you want to achieve.
Take the first triangle and add a teaspoon of custard or whatever you’ve decided, spreading it over the entire surface.
Start rolling from the base, keeping the puff pastry tightly wrapped. Don’t worry if a little bit of custard leaks out.
Finally, place them on a parchment paper-covered base and brush them with beaten egg yolk mixed with a splash of milk.
At this point, preheat the air fryer to 356°F for 5 minutes. Then, place a sheet or tray of parchment paper in the fryer basket and arrange a few mini croissants at a time, slightly spaced apart. I placed 6 in my chosen basket size.
Return the basket and set it to 356°F for 25 minutes.
Your ready-made puff pastry mini croissants in the air fryer are ready!! Enjoy!!
Storage
It’s best to eat the ready-made puff pastry croissants on the same day, but if any are left over, you can store them until the next day at room temperature and heat them in the microwave for a few seconds before eating.
