Ingredients for Chicken in Soy Sauce

  • 12.3 oz chicken breast
  • 2 tbsps soy sauce
  • to taste extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste sliced almonds (optional)

Steps for Chicken in Soy Sauce

  • Take the chicken breast, pound it lightly, and cut it into strips.

In a pan, pour a drizzle of oil and let it heat slightly. Add the strips and let them brown. Once well browned, pour in the soy sauce, stir, and add the lid.

  • Stirring occasionally, let it cook until the soy sauce thickens. Do not add salt, as the soy sauce is already salty enough. We can plate and, to taste, decorate with almond slices.

Storage and Tips

This version is extremely simplified compared to classic recipes, but I assure you the result is equally delicious.

You can prepare the chicken strips in soy sauce in advance and store them in the fridge in an airtight container.

If you don’t want to use oil, you can roast the chicken strips in a very hot non-stick pan before pouring in the soy sauce.

The soy sauce thickens easily once you remove the lid from the pan, so there’s no need to add thickeners like flour or cornstarch.
