Procedure for Cooking Potatoes in the Microwave

  • Cut the potatoes into cubes and rinse them in very cold water for a few seconds. This helps them lose some starch and become crispy when cooked.

Dry them well with a kitchen towel.

  • Place them on the crisp plate in a single layer, without overlapping, and season with extra virgin olive oil and salt. Stir and put them in the microwave on crisp mode for 5/7 minutes.

After this time, take them out of the microwave, stir again, and add the garlic clove and the chosen herbs.

Put them back in the microwave on crisp mode for another 10 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I really get crispy roasted potatoes using just the microwave?

Yes, definitely, but there’s a little trick!
To achieve crispy potatoes, it’s important to use the crisp plate (if your microwave supports it) or cook the potatoes already seasoned with oil and cut into small pieces, as instructed in the recipe, turning them halfway through cooking. Alternatively, a brief finishing with the grill helps achieve browning.

  • How can I store leftover microwave-cooked potatoes?

Store them in the fridge and reheat them well!
Microwave-baked potatoes can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To keep them crispy when reheating, it’s better to use the microwave grill, a non-stick pan, or a traditional oven for a few minutes. Avoid reheating them with just the standard microwave, as they will become soggy.
