Steps for Orange Meatballs

  • 🍊Let the stale breadcrumbs soak in water for a few minutes. Remove the water and squeeze the bread well. In the bowl, mix the soaked stale breadcrumbs with the chicken or turkey mince, salt, pepper, grated orange zest, and an egg. Mix first with a fork and then with your hands.
🍊Form the meatballs with your hands, if necessary you can use an ice cream scoop, and cook them in the oven until sealed. So at 350°F for about 20 minutes, turning them halfway through cooking.

  • 🍊In the pan, heat the oil slightly and let the meatballs flavor. Then pour the juice of one orange diluted with a little water.
🍊 Let it cook until the juice thickens.

  • You can serve them with a mixed salad or potatoes. Collect the cooking juices in a small bowl and pour them over the meatballs when serving.

Notes and Tips

These meatballs are delicious and light. I recommend not cooking them in pure orange juice because they might taste sour at first, so always dilute the juice with a little water.

You can bake the meatballs in advance and then just leave the bath in the orange juice for when you serve them at the table.

You can replace the ground chicken with turkey or even omit it altogether, making simple bread meatballs.
