The fried donuts with orange are a personal recipe of mine. Inspired by apple donuts that are fried after being sliced and dipped in batter, I wanted to try almost the same recipe, replacing the apples with oranges.
The batter also differs a bit from the one prepared
- Difficulty: Medium
- Cost: Medium
- Preparation time: 20 Minutes
- Portions: 4 people
- Cooking methods: Stovetop
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 2 Oranges (medium)
- 1 Egg
- 2 tablespoons Flour
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- 2 g Coriander seeds
- 2 g Baking soda
- as needed Sunflower oil (Enough for frying)
Tools
- Pan
Preparation
Peel the oranges and remove as much of the white parts as possible. Use the same tool used to remove apple cores to obtain the donuts.
Then slice the orange into rings about half an inch thick. Prepare the batter now.
Beat the egg in a plate and gradually add the flour.
Stir well with a fork to avoid lumps. Add the sugar, ground coriander seeds, and baking soda and mix well.If you notice that the batter is too thick, add a teaspoon of milk. Dip the orange slices into the batter on both sides.
Fry in a non-stick pan with some heated oil. Turn the donuts on the other side using two forks for about three to four minutes.
Finally, place some absorbent paper or a napkin on a plate and lay the fried orange donuts to remove excess oil. Sprinkle generously with powdered sugar.
Fried Orange Donuts
The fried orange donuts could be an alternative to the usual carnival fritters or zeppole.
With the unique aroma of coriander seeds, they are truly special.
Prefer medium-sized oranges that are not too ripe.
The same process can also be applied to apples, pears, etc… Come and take a peek on Pinterest by The Cook Who Recovers
