Ingredients

The ingredients are few, simple, and you probably already have most of them in your pantry. But together they create an irresistible cream that smells like a party!

  • 3.5 oz dark chocolate
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 vanilla (1 teaspoon or seeds)
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2.5 tbsps cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Steps

The preparation is really simple and relaxing: just follow a few steps and the aroma that will fill the house does the rest!

  • Without Thermomix:
    1. Sift cocoa, cornstarch, flour, sugar, and cinnamon into a bowl.
    2. Transfer everything to a pot and add the milk gradually, stirring with a whisk to avoid lumps.
    3. Also add the vanilla and the liqueur.

  • 4. Turn on the heat to medium-low and stir constantly.
    5. When the mixture begins to boil, add the chopped dark chocolate.
    6. Continue stirring until you achieve a smooth and velvety cream.

    7. Pour into sterilized jars or airtight containers and let cool.

  • 1. Place cocoa, cornstarch, flour, sugar, and cinnamon in the bowl: 10 sec. speed 4.
    2. Add milk, vanilla, and liqueur: 10 sec. speed 4.
    3. Cook: 12 min. 194°F, speed 3.
    4. Add chocolate pieces: 2 min. 122°F, speed 3.
    5. Pour into containers and let cool.

So, shall we prepare it together? Let yourself be won over by this velvety cream and share it with your family! And then tell me: did it take you back in time like it did for me?

  • Storage: In the fridge, in an airtight jar, up to 5 days.
Notes: If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, feel free to skip the liqueur.
Serving: Serve it with fried dough strips, dry cookies, or simply by the spoonful!

The blood pudding at Carnival is more than a recipe: it’s a ritual that smells of chocolate, cinnamon, and childhood memories. Just a few ingredients are needed to transform it into that comfort food that makes us feel pampered. And if we then enjoy it with our loved ones, perhaps while chatting in the kitchen over a platter of fried dough strips, the moment becomes truly special.
