- Seasonality: All seasons
Ingredients
- 3 pears
- 1 roll of rectangular puff pastry
- 3 oz dark chocolate
- as needed granulated sugar
- as needed vanilla powdered sugar
Steps
Wash and halve the pears, keeping the stem.
Carefully scoop out a little from the inside to remove the seeds.
Make some slits on the outside of the pears with a smooth-bladed knife, then roll the pears in granulated sugar.
Lay the puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Place the pears on the puff pastry spaced apart and, using a knife, trace around each pear on the pastry keeping a distance of about 3/8 inch, also creating some small leaves.
Remove the excess puff pastry; with a toothpick draw the veins on the small leaves.
Bake at 356°F for about 20-25 minutes, then remove from the oven and let cool before dusting with vanilla powdered sugar.
Melt the chocolate in a bain-marie or in the microwave and use a teaspoon to decorate the pears.
To avoid wasting the pastry scraps, make sweet candies by placing a small chocolate or some Nutella inside.
The pears and chocolate in puff pastry are a perfect balance of flavors: crisp on the outside, soft and sweet inside. They are excellent served either warm or cold.
