Soft Tart with Figs

The soft tart with figs is the ideal dessert after a Sunday family lunch.

It is the perfect dessert to prepare in September, when fresh figs are abundant. The sweetness of this fruit, combined with the vanilla-scented custard, is an excellent combination.

The soft tart with figs is not only suitable for a special occasion, but also for a delicious breakfast or snack for both adults and children.

Very simple to make, visually impressive, and it will achieve incredible success among your guests.

For the shell, I used a smart mold with a diameter of 11 inches, thus obtaining a perfect base.

If you don’t have it at home, buy it! I find it very useful. You will find the link to purchase it directly on Amazon in the tools section.

soft tart with figs
  • Portions: 8-10
  • Cooking methods: Stovetop, Electric oven
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 packet vanillin
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 packet vanillin
  • 10.5 oz fresh figs
  • 1 packet gelatin
  • 3 tablespoons sugar

Tools

  • Tart Mold
  • Hand Mixer

Steps

  • Let’s start by preparing the soft base by placing the cracked eggs in a bowl with the sugar, work them with the mixer.

  • Add the liquids: milk and oil, continue working with the mixer, finish by adding the flour mixed with baking powder and vanillin little by little.

  • Butter and flour the mold and pour the mixture.
Bake at 356°F (180°C) for about 30 minutes.

  • Once baking is complete, remove from the oven and let cool, remove the soft base from the mold and place it on a serving plate.

  • Let’s move on to preparing the cream.

  • I directly pour the yolks into the pot and incorporate the sugar as well.
Work with the mixer until they become light and fluffy, then add the flour and a packet of vanillin, work for a few more minutes.
Add the milk, put on the heat and stir continuously with a whisk until the cream becomes nice and thick.
Turn off the heat and let it cool.

  • Incorporate the cream on the base and start filling with fresh figs.
I chose small, elongated figs, cutting them into 4 wedges.

  • Once you have covered your tart, the final step is to prepare the gelatin.

Follow the instructions on the tortagel package, let it cool and pour it over your tart.

Place in the fridge for at least 3 hours before serving.

The soft tart with figs is a seasonal delight, perfect for those with a sweet tooth! 😛
