Have you ever tried gifting friends a hot chocolate cube for Christmas? It’s super quick to make and is a cute and fun gift.
I found this idea on an American blog, where they often prepare these Hot Chocolate spoons for Christmas. Basically, chocolate cubes with a spoon inserted. Then in a cup, you pour hot milk and stir with this chocolatey spoon and drink.
The only problem is that in the USA, they put all sorts of things in this chocolate, especially mini marshmallows and then caramel and other strange sweets….
But the idea is fun, so I bought some mugs and Christmas spoons and completed it with just good 70% dark chocolate and hazelnut bits.
I didn’t add sugar or other flavors, naturally, you can add whatever you prefer. Fortunately, I had a mold at home that could suit well, and here is the result for my hot chocolate cube Christmas version.

How to Make Hot Chocolate Cube
Chop the chocolate, place it in a bowl and melt it using a bain-marie, putting the bowl over a saucepan with water.
I find this is the ideal way to melt chocolate without worries.
Turn off the heat and add the crushed hazelnuts. Then pour into the molds, lightly tapping the mold on the table to release any air bubbles.
Insert one spoon at a time standing up, holding it straight with other spoons resting on the sides. Or you can try making a cut in the foil and inserting the spoon centered. In my case, this method didn’t work because the spoon’s head is wider than the handle.
Let it cool and then transfer it to the fridge. The next day, remove from the mold and pack the hot chocolate cube. Inform your friends on how to use it, heat the milk in the gift mug and insert the cube, stirring well.
Tips for Hot Chocolate Cube
Prepare the hot chocolate cube even a week before gifting it, but store it in the fridge wrapped in foil, pack before delivering.
