Ingredients for 2 people

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg (medium fresh)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 packet baking powder
  • to taste salt

Tools

  • 1 Pan – non-stick 8 inches
  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Ladle
  • 1 Kitchen Scale

Procedure

Pancakes are the ideal recipe for an American breakfast, you can use them for both sweet and savory dishes as they have a fairly neutral taste. I use them, for example, with scrambled eggs and bacon.

  • In a large bowl, place the sifted flour, milk, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Use a whisk to mix the ingredients well, ensuring no lumps form.

At this point, add the egg and blend the ingredients with the whisk until you get a thick and creamy batter.

  • While the batter rests, turn on the stove to medium heat and heat the pan. For optimal cooking of the pancakes, it needs to be hot to cook the batter as soon as it is poured.

Do not overheat the pan or you risk burning the pancakes during cooking, making them less soft.

For better cooking, use a non-stick pan with a little oil or butter.

  • When the pan is at temperature, pour a ladle of batter into the pan, keeping it in a circular shape.

  • Pancakes are cooked and should be flipped to the other side when they start to form bubbles on the side not in contact with the pan.

At this point, all you have to do is cook the second side for the same time as the first; the duration depends on the pan and temperature, but usually, a couple of minutes are sufficient.

  • Place all the pancakes on a plate while finishing cooking all the batter so they stay warm.

Repeat the previous steps until you’ve completely used all the prepared batter.

    Your quick pancakes are ready!

Plating Tips:

Serve the hot pancakes just before serving them and place them on a serving plate so everyone can add toppings to taste. For a perfect American brunch, you can serve various jams or syrups.

Which Wine to Pair:

I would avoid consuming alcoholic beverages before noon, perhaps you can opt for apple juice or a classic orange juice to accompany this recipe.
