Ingredients for 2 people
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 oz grated Grana Padano cheese
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 tbsp instant yeast for savory preparations
Tools
- 1 Bowl
- 1 Whisk
- 1 Pan 8-inch
- 1 Ladle
- 1 Spatula
Procedure
The secret to good savory pancakes lies in the preparation of the batter and cooking in a non-stick pan. Using instant baking powder, the leavening occurs automatically with heat and there is no need to wait.
In a large bowl, combine the milk and flour, gently mix them together, and when well blended, add the whole egg.
After adding the egg, add the instant yeast, a pinch of salt, and the grated cheese, mix well until you get a thick batter.
Place a non-stick pan on medium heat, and when the pan is hot, pour a ladle of the mixture.
Instant baking powder does not require waiting, you can pour it right away, when the pancake starts to form bubbles in the batter it’s time to flip it and continue cooking on the other side for the same time (2-3 minutes per side).
Repeat the operation until the batter is finished, with these quantities you should obtain about 6 savory pancakes.
Your savory pancakes are ready!
Plating Tips:
I recommend serving your savory pancakes with scrambled eggs and crispy bacon, just like a real American breakfast.
