Procedure
Here’s how to make delicious homemade shrimp in pink sauce.
To get excellent shrimp in pink sauce, I recommend selecting fresh, medium-sized shrimp. Follow my tips to clean the shrimp perfectly.
Start by sautéing the cleaned shrimp in a pan with a drizzle of oil; the cooking should be gentle, not frying but just searing.
Halfway through cooking, when you flip them to the other side, add a splash of water so they finish cooking with the heat of the water.
Once cooked, let them cool and focus on preparing the pink sauce. If you want, you can make mayonnaise by following the instructions you find here.
Now that the shrimp are ready, let’s think about the homemade pink sauce. For a tastier pink sauce, you can use fresh homemade mayonnaise, prepared in just a few seconds.
I recommend following my recipe for homemade mayonnaise with an immersion blender.
All that’s left is to mix the ketchup with the mayonnaise, stirring well to achieve a bright pink sauce. Taste it and adjust to your liking. Ketchup adds acidity to the sauce, while mayonnaise contributes to a creamy, rich flavor.
Place the sauce over the shrimp and gently mix so they are completely coated.
Your shrimps in pink sauce are ready!
Serving Suggestions:
Since it’s an appetizer, I recommend pairing the shrimps in pink sauce with sparkling wine. For example, a vintage Valdobbiadene Prosecco or a Brut sparkling wine.
Wine Pairing for Shrimps in Pink Sauce:
I recommend serving the shrimps in cocktail sauce in an aperitif glass placed on a lettuce leaf. The bright green color of the lettuce enhances the color of the dish and makes it fresher.
