  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 5.3 oz dark chocolate (for legs and pupils)
  • 14 milk chocolate candies
  • as needed meringues (for eyes)

Steps

How to make spider cookies
Start by working the softened butter with the sugar, using an electric mixer to achieve a soft and creamy mixture. Add the egg and vanilla extract, continuing to mix until a homogeneous blend is achieved. At this point, add the sifted flour and a pinch of salt. Work the dough until it is smooth and compact. Wrap it in plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
After the dough has cooled, take small portions and form balls with your hands. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and, with your thumb, slightly press the center of each ball to create a cavity. This will be the space where the spider’s body will be placed.
Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake the cookies for about 10-12 minutes. Check that the edges become golden while the center remains slightly soft. Once cooked, let them cool completely on a rack before proceeding with the decoration.
Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler and transfer it to a piping bag with a very thin tip. Use the melted chocolate to draw the spiders’ legs starting from the center of the cookie.
Place a milk chocolate candy in the center of each cookie, in the cavity created, to form the spider’s body. Fix it with a small amount of melted chocolate. To complete the decoration, use small meringues for the eyes. Add a dot of melted dark chocolate in the center of the eyes to create pupils, making your spiders even more realistic.
Allow the chocolate to fully solidify before serving the cookies.
Your Halloween spider cookies are now ready to be enjoyed! Perfect for surprising and delighting, these treats will make your party even more special.

Storage

Halloween spider cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for about 4-5 days. If you wish to keep them fresh longer, you can store them in the refrigerator for up to a week, ensuring they are placed in a well-sealed container to prevent them from losing crispness.
