Ingredients
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup milk
- 3 tsp gelatin sheets
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/3 cups berry fruit jam
- as needed meringues (small)
Tools
- Mold
Steps
Soak the gelatin sheets in a bowl of cold water for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, heat the milk without bringing it to a boil.
Then squeeze the gelatin and add it to the milk, stirring until it completely dissolves. Add the vanilla extract (or vanilla sugar) and mix well to combine.
In another small saucepan, pour the cream, add the sugar along with the vanilla extract. Put on low heat and stir continuously until it begins to boil. As soon as it starts boiling, remove it from the heat and pour in the milk in which you dissolved the gelatin. Stir well to combine everything.Pour the panna cotta into a heart-shaped mold like my silicone one, or into small glasses and let it cool first at room temperature, then place it in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours (better overnight), until it has solidified.
Preparation of Berry Fruit Jam ToppingSince the jam is already ready, heat it slightly to make it more fluid, to facilitate its distribution over the panna cotta. You can do this in the microwave for a few seconds or in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally.
Once the panna cotta has solidified, gently unmold it onto a plate, spread the berry fruit jam on top (or pour it over each portion if you used small glasses) creating an even layer. Place everything back in the refrigerator for another hour, so that the dessert sets well.
Decoration with Small Meringues
Before serving, add plenty of small meringues on top of the jam, creating a fun and crunchy decoration that will make your panna cotta heart even more special. The sweetness and crunchiness of the meringues perfectly match the softness of the panna cotta and the freshness of the jam
