puff pastry wreath and salmon
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 6 People
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: New Year's, All seasons

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (Rectangular)
  • 3.5 oz spreadable cheese (herb)
  • 5.3 oz smoked salmon
  • as needed lemon zest
  • as needed chives
  • as needed milk

Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 356°F static (338°F fan).
Unroll the puff pastry and leave it on its parchment paper.
Spread the herb cheese evenly, leaving about 0.8 inches from the edges.
Distribute the smoked salmon on top.
Add grated lemon zest and chopped chives, then a light grind of pepper. Roll the pastry from the long side forming a compact roll.

Let it rest in the freezer for 10 minutes: this way it will firm up and be much easier to cut before braiding it and forming the wreath.

  • Subsequently, cut the roll in half lengthwise, then braid it with the filling facing up.
Close it into a circle forming the wreath and transfer it to a baking sheet.
Brush with milk and add some pieces of chives on the surface.
Bake on the center rack for 30-35 minutes, until evenly golden brown.

Storage

You can prepare the puff pastry and salmon wreath in advance and store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking.
Once baked, it keeps in the fridge for 1–2 days. Reheat it in the oven for a few minutes before serving.
