Red Apple Tart – Easy and Stunning Dessert

If you’re looking for an easy-to-make dessert with a real wow factor, this red apple tart in the shape of a rose is the recipe for you. Elegant, fragrant, and stunning, it’s perfect to bring to the table on any occasion! Valentine’s Day, a birthday, or a special Sunday with family.

The absolute stars are the Kissabel apples, with their deep red color and slightly tangy taste, which have recently gone viral on social media. However, I discovered them over six years ago, and that’s where the idea for this tart came from: a dessert that combines simplicity and creativity, transforming common ingredients into something truly special.

The crisp shortcrust pastry shell holds thin petals of red apples carefully rolled to form a large rose, beautiful to look at and irresistible to taste. The result is a rustic yet refined tart, homemade and genuine, that captivates at first glance and – above all – at first bite.

It looks like a patisserie dessert but is made with few ingredients and no difficulty: the ideal choice when you want to impress with simplicity, whether it’s for a party, a special occasion, or to treat yourself at breakfast or snack time.

Steps

Among my many recipes, today I want to offer you the red apple tart, a simple but delicious dessert that can be served on any occasion!

  • To prepare the red apple tart, you need to make the shortcrust pastry: mix the sifted flour with the soft butter, sugar, eggs (one at a time), a pinch of salt, baking powder, milk, and the packet of vanillin. Let it rest in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, wash and slice the apples thinly, without peeling them!

After taking the shortcrust pastry out of the fridge, roll it into a previously buttered and floured pan.

Add the apricot jam to taste, place the thinly sliced apples with all the peel on top (forming a rose) alternating a round of apples and a round of shortcrust pastry, finally a sprinkle of granulated sugar and bake at 355°F for 30/35 minutes on the middle-low shelf of the oven!

The tart will be ready when the surface is golden.

Tips

The red apple tart is perfect for an afternoon snack with friends, for a brunch, or as a dessert after dinner. Moreover, its simplicity makes it perfect for personalization with other additions like almonds, raisins, or custard.

Try it at home and enjoy the pleasure of cooking and sharing food with the people you care about.

FAQ

  • Can I prepare it in advance?

Yes! I recommend making it the day before: the taste improves, and the apples soften perfectly.

  • Can it be frozen?

Better not, as the apples lose texture. But you can freeze the pastry, either raw or baked.

  • Can I use puff pastry?

Yes, but you’ll achieve a different effect, more flaky and less “rustic.” Great if you’re short on time.
