Ingredients

  • 5 oz butter (soft)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp milk
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • as needed hazelnut spread (about 12 oz)

Steps

  • In a bowl, mix butter and sugar until creamy.
    Add eggs, salt, milk, and vanilla, mixing well.
    Gradually add the sifted flour and baking powder and knead until a smooth dough is achieved.
    Roll out the dough and line a greased and floured 10/11 inch mold.
    Prick the bottom, fill with hazelnut cream, and decorate with shortcrust hearts.

Bake in a static oven at 355°F.
Second to last rack, covered with aluminum foil, 23 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for another 12 minutes uncovered.

Storage

The tart can be stored at room temperature for 2–3 days, covered with a cake dome. Alternatively, in the refrigerator, especially if you want to make it in summer.

Tips

The hazelnut cream should be slightly warmed in a double boiler to make it more fluid.

The tart is even better if prepared the day before.
