Steps
Preparing the vertical delight of stuffed rigatoni is very easy!
Start by bringing water to a boil to cook the rigatoni, which will form the base of the casserole. Cook them for 5 minutes less than the time indicated on the package as they will finish cooking in the oven. Once cooked, drain them and cool them under cold water to prevent them from breaking. Make sure to cook them in plenty of salted water in a spacious pot. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 392°F.
I used a rectangular baking pan, but if you need to prepare a smaller quantity or struggle to arrange them in the rectangular one, you can use a circular springform pan to make the arrangement of the rigatoni easier.Place the rigatoni vertically in the previously buttered pan.
Placing all the rigatoni upright will require some patience, but the end result will definitely be worth it. Enjoy the process as an integral part of this preparation!
Fill each rigatone with the ragù, covering the entire surface of the pasta. Add a generous sprinkle of grated mozzarella and grated Grana Padano on top and, if you prefer, garnish with fresh basil leaves.
Bake at 392°F for 30 minutes. Once cooked, remove the pan from the oven and serve your casserole of rigatoni with ragù, hot and irresistibly stringy. This culinary creation will win the hearts and palates of all your guests! Enjoy your meal!
Tips, Storage
If you wish for a variation, you can experiment with different ragù variants, such as a classic ragù based on ground meat, a spicy sausage ragù for a peppery touch, or a vegetarian ragù rich in vegetables. Each of these options will add a unique touch to your dish.
For a further variation, you might consider using a smooth sauce instead of ragù. A sauce with fresh tomatoes and basil can offer a lighter yet equally delicious version.
If there’s leftover pasta, reheat it the next day in a pan with a knob of butter; it will be even tastier!!!
