  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 packet vanillin

Steps

To prepare the easy Halloween cookies…

  • In the bowl of the stand mixer, place the granulated sugar and cold butter cut into cubes, then use the mixer equipped with the paddle attachment to work the two ingredients until a sandy mixture is obtained.

  • As an alternative to the stand mixer, you can use a food processor with blades, pulsing intermittently to avoid heating the butter too much during processing.

  • Then add the whole egg and a pinch of fine salt, incorporating them with the mixer.

  • Lastly, add the all-purpose flour and the vanillin, activate the mixer again, increasing the speed, and work the dough until it begins to come together.

  • Transfer the shortcrust pastry onto a lightly floured pastry board and shape it into a rectangular dough. Then wrap it in plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

  • After the resting time of the shortcrust pastry, wait a few minutes before working with it so it does not tend to break.

  • Take a small amount of shortcrust pastry at a time and roll it out with the rolling pin to a thickness of 1/4 inch, then cut out the cookies with Halloween cookie cutters.

  • As you make the cookies, place them on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  • Bake the cookies in a preheated oven at 355°F and bake them in convection mode for about 15 minutes. Once cooked, remove them from the oven and let them cool before enjoying.
