Meat pizza

in

The meat pizza is a simple, tasty and quick main course. This is a recipe I had already read somewhere and wanted to try myself. The base is made of ground beef, to which stale bread soaked in milk, eggs and grated cheese are added. It is then topped with tomato purée, mozzarella and basil and baked in the oven like a traditional pizza. A different way to serve ground beef, ideal for children.

Ingredients

  • 18 oz ground beef
  • 3 oz stale bread
  • 2.5 oz mozzarella for pizza
  • 0.5 cup grated Grana Padano
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • A few leaves basil
  • as needed tomato purée
  • as needed milk
  • as needed fine salt
  • as needed black pepper

Tools

  • Kitchen scale
  • Bowl
  • Spoon
  • Oven
  • Baking pan
  • Knife

Steps

To prepare the meat pizza…

  • Place the stale bread pieces in a bowl and soak them in the milk. When they have completely softened, drain and squeeze them well with your hands, then return them to the bowl.

  • To the bowl with the soaked bread add the ground beef, grated Grana Padano, eggs, extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper.

  • Mix everything well with a spoon or with your hands. Transfer the meat mixture to a nonstick baking pan or a pan lined with parchment paper, leveling it with a spoon.

  • Bake the meat in a preheated oven at 356°F in convection mode for 20 minutes.

  • Then remove it, spread the tomato purée on top and add the mozzarella for pizza cut into cubes. Return it to the oven for another 10 minutes until the mozzarella has melted.

  • Serve hot, garnished with a few fresh basil leaves.
