Meat Sandwiches with Ham and Cheese

The meat sandwiches with ham and cheese are a simple and tasty meat main course to prepare. Just like the shape of real sandwiches, in this case, instead of bread, there’s mixed ground meat (pork, beef, and veal) stuffed with cooked ham and Edam cheese. They are cooked in a pan in a few minutes and are ready to be served with the side dish of your choice.

  • 7 oz ground veal

  • 3.5 oz cooked ham
  • 4 slices Edam cheese
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste fine salt
  • to taste black pepper

Tools

  • Kitchen Scale
  • Bowl
  • Parchment Paper
  • Spoon
  • Rolling Pin
  • Cutting Board
  • Pan

Preparation

To prepare the meat sandwiches with ham and cheese…

  • In a bowl, place the ground pork, veal, and beef, season with extra virgin olive oil, salt, pepper, and mix.

  • Divide the meat into two equal parts. Roll out half of the meat on a sheet of parchment paper with a rolling pin, forming a rectangle (or square), about 1/4 inch thick.

  • Fill the rectangle (or square) of ground meat with slices of cooked ham and Edam cheese then cover the surface with the other half of the remaining meat, sealing the edges well and even it out by pressing it with the rolling pin.

  • Finally, cut the rectangle (or square) of meat, ham, and cheese in half, cut it lengthwise and then again horizontally, obtaining 4 rectangles. Inside each rectangle, create two triangles.

  • Now that the meat sandwiches are ready, you can cook them in a pan for about 5 minutes with a little extra virgin olive oil, turning them on each side.

  • Then serve them hot, with the side dish you prefer.

Variation

If you prefer, you can use only one type of meat, even chicken or turkey.

Advice

If you have many to cook or prefer not to use oil, you can bake them in a convection oven.
