To kick off Halloween celebrations, you can’t miss the mummy sausages and puff pastry!!! I chose pork sausages, but chicken, turkey or cheese ones work great too, depending on your taste, as long as they are large. Easy and quick to prepare, they are great to serve as an appetizer or starter, perhaps accompanied by mayonnaise or ketchup. Just make them and bake them!

- Difficulty: Very easy
- Cost: Very cheap
- Preparation time: 15 Minutes
- Portions: 6 pieces
- Cooking methods: Oven
- Cuisine: Street food
- Seasonality: Halloween
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry (rectangular)
- 3 pork sausages (large)
- 12 cloves (for the eyes)
- 1 egg yolk
- to taste fine salt
Tools
- Cutting board
- Knife
- Baking sheet
- Small bowl
- Brush
Preparation
To prepare the mummy puff pastry and sausages…
Cut the large sausages in half to get a total of 6 smaller pieces.
After cutting the sausages, unroll the rectangular puff pastry sheet and cut strips no wider than 0.4 inches.
With these puff pastry strips, start wrapping the previously cut sausages as if they were mummies (they don’t have to be perfect). As you make them, place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper (I used the one from the puff pastry packaging).
After covering them all with puff pastry, pour the egg yolk into a small bowl and brush the mummies on the entire surface.
Finally, season the mummies with a few pinches of salt (optional) and bake them in a preheated oven at 356 degrees Fahrenheit and cook them in static mode for about 30 minutes, until they are golden.
Before serving, decorate them by adding the eyes made of cloves. Serve them alone or with your favorite sauces.
Advice
I recommend preparing them and eating them as soon as they are cooked.
Notes
The amount of puff pastry used is also ideal for another 6 mummy pieces. In this case, having used only 3 sausages, they will be larger.
