Flavored Salt is a seasoning for meats and vegetables that you can prepare at home with the herbs you prefer. For me, it has become one of those things I can’t do without in the kitchen. I use it in many meat dishes like roasts, poultry, steaks and in vegetable side dishes, not only in boiled or baked potatoes but also in zucchinis, peppers, and in all pan-fried vegetable dishes. Sometimes, I even add it to sauce and minestrone because it makes them so much tastier and it’s fantastic for marinating meat or fish!
I practically use it everywhere!
How to make flavored salt? You can do it in just a few minutes using the herbs you like best: just with one, like rosemary or sage, or using them together. I made this salt with rosemary, sage, garlic, and bay leaves because they are my favorite herbs in the kitchen, but you can put whatever you prefer: thyme, marjoram, oregano, chives…
When you open the jar, you will smell a wonderful aroma!
A few years ago, I gifted this salt for Christmas, and it was much appreciated. You can put it inside cute glass jars and tie a string under the lid with the label and the ingredients you used. Whoever receives it will be happy; it’s a small gift useful to everyone!
The first time I made it, I used coarse salt, then I realized that fine salt gives better results. More than anything, you can use it raw, whereas if you use coarse salt, you will have to use it during cooking so that it melts well into the dishes.
At the supermarket, there is a wide choice of seasonings for roasts, fish, potatoes… even for sauces! Have you ever stopped to look at the price and ingredients? I have… 30€ per kilo for a mix of salt and aromatic herbs that we can easily prepare at home, it only takes 10 minutes!
In the kitchen, let your imagination go because it’s crucial and if you lack ideas, follow me, I’ll give you some tips!
