Grilled red onions with feta are a simple and light side dish but very tasty, perfect for those who love fresh and Mediterranean flavors. I’ve already made grilled zucchini with feta and watermelon and feta salad, both of which are delicious. In fact, I really like feta, and adding it to some dishes makes them much more flavorful.
Preparing this dish is really easy: just slice the onions and grill them until soft. Then they are seasoned with oil, salt, and pepper, and finally, crumbled feta is added, giving a touch of salty and creamy flavor, creating a delightful combination.
It’s an ideal dish as an appetizer or side dish to pair with meat dishes, perfect for a summer dinner or an outdoor lunch. You can also enrich it with a few basil or parsley leaves for an extra touch of freshness!

Steps: Grilled Red Onions with Feta
Peel the onions, cut them into slices about half an inch thick, and skewer them with a toothpick halfway. This way, when you turn them, they will stay whole. Place them on a hot grill and cook over medium-low heat for a couple of minutes.
Using the toothpick, turn the onion slices and continue cooking on the other side. Then turn off the heat and let them cool on a plate.
Now, season the grilled onions with salt and extra virgin olive oil, gently remove the toothpick, and place them on the serving dish. Add the crumbled feta, a splash of balsamic vinegar, and a grind of pepper. Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator until ready to eat.
