Savory Pie Dough – Quick and Foolproof

This Savory Pie Dough is quick because it is prepared with a food processor, and foolproof because you can’t go wrong. It has a crumbly texture and with these ingredients, you will get the base dough for a tart. If you want to make a covered savory pie, double the quantities to get two disks.

Savory Pie Dough - Quick and Foolproof
  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Very cheap
  • Rest time: 1 Hour
  • Preparation time: 5 Minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Half teaspoon cornstarch
  • 9 tbsp butter (cold)
  • 5 tbsp water (cold)
  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • Half teaspoon salt

How to Prepare the Savory Pie Dough – Quick and Foolproof

  • Put the flour, cornstarch, and salt in the food processor. Add half of the butter cut into cubes and blend for a few seconds. Remove the lid, add the remaining butter pieces, and blend again. Add the vinegar and water, and blend for a few more seconds.

    Transfer the mixture to a bowl and work it with your hands to form a ball, flatten it, and wrap it in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least an hour before rolling it out for your desired recipe.
