Simple and very tasty, the savory pie with leeks and bacon is one of those versatile and irresistible recipes that can please everyone. Rustic yet refined at the same time, it is perfect as an appetizer, a main dish, or to enrich a buffet, and it is ideal to enjoy both hot and at room temperature.
Often, when I don’t know what to prepare for dinner, I make a savory pie: it is economical, quick, and also allows me to use up leftover cheeses or cured meats I have in the fridge. The savory pie with leeks and bacon is a practical, tasty, and always appreciated recipe, perfect to prepare in advance and suitable for any occasion, even for an office lunch.
Although leeks are good and versatile, they are not very appreciated… I often use them: we like them a lot as a side dish, but not only. We also find them excellent in omelets, soups, and, as in this case, savory pies.

Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 leek
- 1.06 oz sweet bacon
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons Grana Padano cheese, grated
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- salt
Recommended Tools
- Frying Pan 11 inches
Steps: Savory Pie with Leeks and Bacon
First, clean the leek: remove the outermost part if it’s damaged and wash it under water. Remove the roots and the dark green tough end, then slice it about a quarter of an inch thick. Place the slices in a colander and rinse them well under water, separating them with your hands to ensure any soil inside is washed away, and leave them to drain in the colander.
Meanwhile, heat the oil in a non-stick pan and brown the bacon for a couple of minutes, then add the leeks.
Let the leeks cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally and adding a bit of water if necessary to prevent them from sticking to the pan. Finally, add a pinch of salt, stir, and let them cool.
In a bowl, beat the egg with a pinch of salt and the grated cheese. Add the cooled leeks and mix everything together.
Unroll the puff pastry in the baking dish and pour in the mixture. Fold the edges inward and bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes.
The savory pie with leeks and bacon is ready: serve it hot or warm.
