Savory puff pastry shells, a starter perfect for Christmas lunch, very impressive yet simple to prepare, tasty and suitable for other occasions as well. To make these beautiful shells, you’ll only need a ready-made puff pastry roll. If you want to get your hands dirty, try making the Puff Pastry at home.
You can decide the filling of the shells based on your tastes, I made two types: salami with mozzarella balls and cooked ham with olives. You can also use salmon or whatever you prefer; the important thing is to use something round to simulate the pearl.
I like to prepare Puff Pastry Appetizers, I can make them quickly and prepare them in advance.

How to Prepare Savory Puff Pastry Shells
First, unroll the puff pastry and cut out circles with the pastry cutter.
Make light cuts with the back of a knife and fold one end to simulate the shell shape. Bake in a preheated oven at 340°F for about 14 minutes, then let them cool.
Once cooled, cut them gently in half and fill them as you prefer: I made them in two different ways: I put a layer of spreadable cheese, a slice of salami, and a mozzarella ball, then closed with the top part of the shell. Others I filled with spreadable cheese, cooked ham, and an olive.
Tips
Use a pastry cutter slightly larger than the desired size as the shells puff up during baking and will become a bit smaller.
FAQ (Questions and Answers)
Can I fill the shells in other ways?
Besides the combinations I used, you could fill them with prosciutto and smoked scamorza cheese, or smoked salmon and mozzarella balls.
