The spiced mandarin donuts are small, soft, and fragrant desserts, flavored with mandarin juice, cinnamon, and ginger. You can use the spices you prefer: cloves, star anise, and nutmeg work well too, and you can choose to use just one or make a mix.
I used metal molds similar to muffin tins made into mini donuts, so with a hole. The dough is simple to prepare, citrusy thanks to the mandarin and with warm, wintery notes given by the spices, which in my opinion create the perfect Christmas atmosphere.
These donuts are typical as a winter treat, ideal for an afternoon snack with tea and herbal teas or after dinner accompanied by mulled wine.
If you prefer, with the same recipe quantities you can make a pound cake: just put it in a mold and bake it for about 40 minutes.
