Sweet and Sour Onions in Air Fryer

Sweet and sour onions in air fryer, a delicious side dish to pair with any meat dish. I ate it cold given the high temperatures, but if you prefer, you can serve it hot or warm.

The idea for this dish was given to me by Lidia Spezzano, she made it before me, and I decided to replicate it. I must say I made a good choice because these onions turned out very tasty.

These sweet and sour onions are also great paired with aged cheeses as an appetizer.

How to Prepare Sweet and Sour Onions in Air Fryer

  • Peel the onions, slice them rather thickly and place them in a baking pan. I used a paper one, but you can also use aluminum ones. Season with a drizzle of oil, salt, pepper, and cook for 10 minutes at 401°F.

Meanwhile, prepare the sweet and sour mixture by putting the vinegar, sugar, and a couple of tablespoons of water in a glass. Mix well and set aside.

  • Pour over the onions and continue cooking for another 6 minutes at 356°F.

Let cool slightly and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes if you want to eat them cold, as I did, otherwise you can serve them immediately.

Cooking times may vary slightly depending on the model of air fryer you own, always check the cooking.
